Why we stayed independent at Christian Roberts Mortgage
As the mortgage world continues to change, many individuals and companies are going the way of the buffalo. Envision Lending, our former brokerage, was one of those who merged with a small mortgage bank to avoid the new regulations (the largest of which is the implementation of the misleading, confusing new Good Faith Estimate) that went into place at the start of the new year. This, in turn, forced us into a decision: should we go with the bank and avoid further regulation, or should we stay independent and try to adapt? We reviewed our situations carefully and compared them, and ultimately derived one definite fact: no bank we reviewed would be able to compete with the rates and service that we now receive from our best lenders. We stood this up against being able to use the forms we always had and avoid further regulation, but arrived at the conclusion that at the end of the day, we want to be able to get our clients the best loan that they can get, and no bank offers us the ability to shop multiple lenders to get it. However, we did have to move somewhere, as our brokerage firm was changing to a bank rapidly. We looked at many different firms, and found our best fit at Christian Roberts Mortgage. Among many deciding factors was the fact that they are one of very few firms in the state that have “tier 1 pricing” with the country’s best lender, Provident Funding. This means that the company that has the best rates in the country offers us special rates not available to others. This, along with a great support staff and excellent management, ultimately steered us to hang our licenses with Christian Roberts Mortgage.
